Doctor Association of India-America Ushers on the Women’s Leadership Team

Last month, when Dr.
Anupama Gotimukula – An anesthetist of the Texas’ San Antonio – took over as president of an influential American association from an Indian doctor (AAPI), he became the fourth woman in the history of 40-year-old organizations to hold a peak office .
And not only Gotimukula, but Dr.
Kusum Punjabi serves as Chairman of the API, Dr.
Soumya Neravetla as president of the young doctor (YPS) and Dr.
Ayesha Singh as President of Medical / Citizens Students (MSRF).
During the period 2020-21, the organization had obtained strong women’s leadership.
Dr.
Anjana Samadder, who served as vice president of Aapi, in a row for the top leadership position in 2023-24.
“It’s really historic and a very proud moment for angle to have the majority of current leadership from this noble organization being held by female leaders,” Gotimukula, who has been practicing since 2007 along with being an active member and anger leader for more than a decade , said when taking over the office.
“Have there been a strong representation of women leaders in the position of leadership anapi.
It has become a privilege and challenge to lead the anapi because the organization celebrates 40 years of special services to the United States, India and the world.” Serving one in every seven patients in the US, members of the AAPI take care of millions every day.
Some of them have risen to hold high flying jobs, forming policies, programs, and discoveries that form health care landscapes in the US and throughout the world.
Dr.
Kusum Punjabi, a young and energetic leader AAPI, assumed the office as Chair of the Joint Supervisory Board of Gotimukula.
The youngest to hold this position in the history of AAPI, Punjabi said, “My goal as the Chairman of the Board to develop a long-lasting program in an aapi that promotes professionalism, unity, guidance, and inclusiveness.
I hope it can clearly define the anapi mission.
Service, Academic achievement and supporting Indian doctors work in America through advocacy and leadership.
I want patients to know the value of care they receive from our ethnic group and our mission to promote the safest and best health care practices for our patients.
“Dr.
Samadder, Vice President Aapi, Sharing its vision “to help build a strong and morally responsible organization and is morally responsible.
It is also very important to bring diversity that is needed to make the developing anapi.” The second generation of Indian-Americans who were born, raised, and were educated in the US, Dr.
Neravetla, President YPS, was a cardiothoracic surgeon who was actively involved in the welfare of Indian doctors and the general public.
Popular medical speakers, he has provided several talks to the medical community.
“Empowering Indian doctors and encouraging career growth has become my passion,” Neravetla said.
In his new role in Aapi, he hoped “to improve career networks and guidance opportunities, and doctors and doctors in training with tools to navigate their careers better.” Ayesha Singh, a fourth medical student at Louisville University, has joined AAPI in 2017 and held its first leadership position at the MSRF Council as Secretary in 2018.
In 2019, he was elected as Vice President of the MSRF.
Singh’s vision for MSRF is “to connect, inspire, and grow our community.
I hope to continue our reach to Indian-American medical students by developing a guidance program, providing research and academic opportunities, and accommodating specific events of students.”
