Nagpur: Replacement of Aorta Transkatheter or TAVR valves is a skilled procedure to replace the valve in the heart while avoiding open heart surgery.
Such surgery is done in Nagpur often in the past five years, because the city emerged as the Central Indian medical center.
Recently, at Kingsway Hospital, the doctor performed this skilled operation, where the technically challenging implantation of the very large (30 mm) valve was successfully executed.
This is an unprecedented case for the Nagpur area where large valves have been successfully implanted during the TAVR.
Dr.
Shailendra Ganjewar, a Cardiology senior consultant at Kingsway Hospital, said that the TAVR was trusted and the process was trusted, but it was challenging this time.
“We all know it in the TAVR, you don’t need to have a chest open.
This procedure allows the doctor to send a replacement valve in the same way as the heart stent is inserted into the blocked artery in the heart.
However, in this particular case, the patient requires a very sized valve Great approaching 1.18 inches, too, the valve that developed itself.
So, this is technically challenging, “Dr.
Ganjewar said.
This procedure was carried out in 67-year-old Ashok Bhabhra.
He has undergone angioplasty with one stent 20 years ago.
Recently, the man was found to have severe stenosis of the aortic valve and beam-beam in two coronary arteries.
In such cases, open heart operation was once the only previous option.
But, advanced technology and trained doctors are made possible without any pieces.
Patients recover within 24 hours.
The doctor’s team included Dr.
Anmol Sonangane (Mumbai), Dr.
Shailendra Ganjewar, Dr.
Irshad Pathhan, Dr.
Amey Beethkar and others.
The doctor said that the patient had stopped treatment since the last 3-4 years because he felt better.
Over the past 2 years, he experienced shortness of breath even in light activities.
When symptoms increase, he consulted with Dr.
Ganjewar who told Him was the only choice.
Thank you, he avoided operations for one year but again in June 2021, the symptoms increased significantly.
After he explained that the TAVR procedure was far more invasive than the previous heart valve replacement method, he approved the operation.
