Lucknow: After installing a brave battle for months, Dr.
Sharda Suman, a 31-year-old population in Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIs), lost the battle for life on Sunday night while waiting for the lung transplant of the KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad .
Promising gynecologists and a Korona warrior, the lungs are severely damaged after the Covid-19 contract in a row of tasks during the second wave in April, survived her husband and a five-month-old baby girl she missed through an emergency of the caesarean surgery when in support ventilator.
“We have been told by doctors at KimS Hospital that Dr.
Sharda Suman died on September 5,” said Prof.
PK Das, Head, Anesthetic Department, RMLIs.
Dr.
Sharda was treated under Prof.
Das when he was hospitalized at the Institute here.
Dr.
Sharda was flown to KimS Hospital on July 11 and has been waiting for lung transplants since then.
Although all the tests needed for transplantation were carried out successfully, rescue operations could not be done when he developed complications, tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF), in the trachea and food.
Toi tried to reach out to his husband Dr.
Sharda, Dr.
Ajay Kumar, who took care of him at Kimsa Hospital on Monday, but could not get a response.
However, when Tii called him before on Saturday to get an update on his health, he had told his lung transplant to be postponed because of the TEF where the abnormal path was formed between pipes and food traches.
“This pose a fluid or any food threat taken by mouth directly to the lungs.
Stomach reflexes can also enter the lungs.
In such conditions, lung transplantation cannot be done.
Even though the condition began to develop when he was in care.
In RMLim, it was exacerbated after arriving at Hyderabad.
The specialist here hopes the drug will soon finish it, “he told Ti by telephone.
Their five-month-old daughter with her father’s grandmother in the Sant Kabir Nagar district.
Dr.
Sharda has contracted Covid-19 on April 14.
He was also eight months pregnant.
He was placed on the ventilator at the Institute itself.
In July the first week, when the doctor said that only the lung transplant could save his life, her husband Dr.
Ajay Kumar and senior officials RMLIs met with Minister of Chief Yogi Adyityath to seek financial assistance.
CM has immediately directed the officers to give a sanction RS 1.5 Crore for transplantation.
Next, he was taken to KimS, Hyderabad.
All this while he is constantly in ECMO support (extra-pasporeal membrane oxygenation).
Health experts told TI that the Trakeoesophageal fistula developed in some patients who remained intubated for a long time.
During intubation for ventilation, a tube is included in the trachea to maintain oxygen supply, while others pass the food pipe to the stomach for breastfeeding.
Good tubes have balloons on their increasing tips through pressure so that the body’s secretion does not endanger the lungs and stomach.
Sometimes, the use of tubes for a long time causes swelling in the trachea, which is then trapped in a food pipe that leads to the formation of fistulas.
