JAMSHEDPUR: Doctor 29 years old, who shot himself in the head on Thursday night, died at a private hospital here on Friday while undergoing treatment.
The victim, Dr.
Amit Kumar Singh, who works as a junior doctor with the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), was treated at the main hospital Tata on Thursday after he shot himself with a revolver who was licensed for his brother.
Dr.
Singh lives in AdyityaPur in a quarter of type S and will get married in November.
He was engaged to a woman from Samastipur Bihar in July this year.
Adityapur Police Station-in-Charge Rajendra Prasad Matho said, “Prima Facie seems to be a suicide case.
We tried to confirm the reason for suicide.” Mahto said the victim’s family member had claimed that he was mentally disturbed for several days.
Meanwhile, MGMMCH management said Dr.
Singh worked as a junior resident in the hospital medicine.
He has joined the hospital as an internship in 2018 and was prioritized to the Medical Ward in 2019 as a junior population.
He also works with private nursing homes in the city.
“Dr.
Amit is energetic and devote to his profession,” said Chapter Jamshedpur of the Indian Medical Association.
