Doctors with mathematical backgrounds have advantages in interdisciplinary research

Mumbai Girl Aakriti Goel and Janhavi Ajit Rao from Bengaluru have similarities.
Both women chose to become a doctor after investing years of learning techniques.
Aakriti who completed BTECH from Bits Pilani in 2015 and worked for several projects and startups, is now set to start the innings both as students of MBBS.
Aakriti secured 1118 the All-Indian ratings in Neet 2021.
Janhavi, an IT professional based in the US, chose to become a doctor after he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and realized that there was a lack of specialists to treat disease.
He was also touched by the services provided by the doctor to the community.
Janhavi completed his MBBS from MS Aqualah Medical College, Bengaluru, in 2020.
At present, he is a resident of an internal drug in the University of Riverside, USA.
Dr.
Ajay Kumar Pal, Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Medical University of King George (KgMu), Lucknow, said that career switches were there but quite rarely.
“There are many students like me who qualify for medical entrance and techniques, but choose one,” said Dr.
Pal, who qualified for medicine and engineering in 2003.

However, Dr.
PAL, a MBBS graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, believes that students with mathematical background have slightly better analytical skills compared to the background of pure biological knowledge.
There are no differences in skills as doctors between mathematics and non-mathematics students.
“Doctors who have studied mathematics in class XII enjoy excellence in interdisciplinary research in fields such as biomedical, biotechnology and biostatistics, among others,” explained Dr.
Pal.
Technology technology intervention has become a determining factor in all disciplines.
“Medicine in a new stage in India and technology intervention is proven for the development of a better infrastructure,” said Aakriti who wants to become a surgeon after completing his MBBS.
“Candidates who come from mathematical backgrounds, techniques or technology are more skilled with the ability to think of analytical and problem solving and critical.
Having an increase in the presence of these students in medicine will definitely improve efficiency and promote interdisciplinary research in this field,” said Aakriti.
