Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress on Monday tried to find out whether Snooping and Tapping Phones occurred in this country using Pegasus Israeli software during the previous state-BJP government.
State Congress spokesman Sachin Sawant also demanded an investigation of this issue.
“Does the Pegasus scandal occur in Maharashtra?” Sawant asked, whose feed shared strength with Shiv Sena and NCP in the state.
The Government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the state must conduct an investigation into it, he said in a statement.
An international media consortium on Sunday reported that more than 300 cell phone numbers were verified, including the two ministers who served, more than 40 journalists, three opposition leaders and one judge sitting in addition to a number of people and activists in India could be targeted to hack through the Israeli spyware only sold to government institutions.
However, the central government rejects allegations of all types of supervision on their parts in certain people, saying it “does not have a concrete base or the truth associated with it”.
Sawant said in Maharashtra, a case of alleged “unauthorized telephone tapping” by (senior IPS officers) Rashmi Shukla during the Devendra Fadnivis government had previously been revealed.
“But, there are also reports on using Pegasus software,” he said.
Congress leader asks if there are IPS officers at the State Headquarters ‘Mantralaya’ (Secretariat) are working on this.
“With the permission of the DGIPR officer (Directorate General of Information and Public Relations) goes to Israel? What training they received? Do they return and report? Is this related to Pegasus?” He asked.
Sawant said it was “shocking and suspicious” that such tourism occurred during the election period (in 2019).
He said the problem of utilizing the national level through Pegasus software and “the possibility of the role of the Modi government in it is a very serious problem” in this country.
All countries ruled by BJP may have been instructed to work on this procedure, he claims.
“Telephone tapping during Fadnivis’s reign in Maharashtra has the same intention,” he thought.
