Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation has planned to increase the capacity of sterilization operations in the three animal birth control centers (ABC) in Kannamapetai, Pulianthope and Lloyds Colony in the city.
The main reason behind this step is that the number of unsolved community dogs in the city has risen around 90% in the past two and a half years.
According to GCC data, there are around 42,000 dogs not stabbing in the city in October 2018.
This figure has increased to 81,000 in February this year.
In a 28-month downsizing, the GCC centers can only sterilize 24,134 dogs, show official data.
