Religious: The carcass of Irrawaddy dolphins, endangered species, was found floating in Lake Chilika near Rambha Range on Tuesday.
It was the second Dolphin carcass found in the area in the last 18 days and fifth in the last four months.
“Anti-hunting personnel saw male carcass 6.3 feet and 45 inches floating on the lake and took it to the beach near the Sabulia on a boat.
There was no external injury to the body of the water mammal.
The exact cause of death will be known after getting an autopsy report,” said Range Officer Narasingh Behera.Dia added that the carcass sample will be sent to the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) owned by the state, for Bhubaneswar, for further investigation.
