NEW DELHI: The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) on Friday, after taking notice of admissions made at the Mehul Choksi’s hebeas corpus request, controlled Dominican police from taking away the fugitive diamantaire in the Commonwealth of Dominica until further hearing in the subject.
Another hearing in the matter will be scheduled to occur on June 2.
Justice ME Birnie Stephenson of the ECSC on Friday set an injunction restraining the respondents if independently, servants, representatives and/or agents from removing the offender in the Commonwealth of Dominica till farther.
The Court also permitted Choksi to fulfill with his legal counsel and be transported to a hospital to get medical care and also for the government of a Covid-19 evaluation.
The Court also led the Dominican government to record their affidavits in response to this program.
It also limited media coverage in the subject.
The Court’s orders said:”There will not be any discussion or publication or discussion of the media regarding this subject without permission or leave of the courtroom.

The legal group of this diamantaire on Thursday filed a habeas corpus petition in Dominica and also has emphasized his deprivation of access to legal aid there.

Aggarwal alleged that Choksi was picked from Antigua and subsequently carried to Dominica.
A large manhunt was launched following Choksi went missing an Interpol Yellow Notice premiered by Antigua and Barbuda.
He had been tracked and caught from Dominica.
