MySuru: Pratap Sime, Mysore MP, on Sunday urged Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) not to add tariffs to drinking water, and request officials to release an interest in arrears and to collect the amount specified in the bill.
In his letter to Mysuru Mayor Sunani Palanethra and Commissioner MCC Lakshmikantha Reddy, MP members showed that Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW), who was responsible for supplying drinking water to residents in areas under the Jurisdiction of MCC, had to collect a large number of Rs 219 Crore – Including cumulatively delayed bills worth Rs 146 Crore and interest of 73.6 crore – from consumers for the period until November 2021.Simha made a strong attraction to the MCC to attract proposals about hiking rates on drinking water.
He suggested that the Civic Agency must reflect on installing water meters in each household to check unauthorized connections to the water supply network instead of increasing tariffs.
