Don’t expand the road inside the sanctuary gear, say experts

Ahmedabad: After opposing an increase in the railway through the Sanctuary Gir, wildlife experts object to the proposal to expand and increase the road flowing through the Lion’s core habitat.
The proposed 14km road is located near the controversial railway and is part of the state highway 111 which connects VisAvadar to Sasan.
Wildlife experts have the view that turning it into a bound road will be very detrimental to the gear.
This will cause an increase in vehicles that are speeding, which causes accidents involving wild animals.
Rajesh Chudasama, BJP MP from Junagadh, wrote to the Ministry of Forest Union on September 21, seeking fast approval for the project.
This project was proposed by the Department of Road and Building in April, the letter said.
The department asked permission to increase the highway, which is currently Kutcha Road, to Pucca road with the surface of the terig.
“Many wildlife lovers have written to the state government objection with proposals.
The proposed project will divide the Holy into two parts and cause it is difficult for wild animals that cross from the other side to the other,” said RevTubha Raijada, a member of the National Park Advisory Committee .
Often lions and leopards are seen on this road.
The upgrade will provide illegal visitors free access to the protected area.
“Apart from the increase in the threat of hunting, illegal lion shows will also increase.
Gir strength is in its compactness.
The increase in traffic will not only interfere with the lion corridor, but also habitat fragments.
The free movement of large cats will be limited and they will be limited to the region Small, which leads to the bloody marriage, “said Bhushan Pandya, a famous wildlife photographer and a gir wildlife expert.
There is an alternative route outside Kudus which requires urgent repairs.
The government must take a job on this road as soon as possible, said wildlife experts.
At present there is a limit on heavy vehicles in the sanctuary and internal roads close from dusk to dawn.
The proposal will first be submitted to the State Council for wildlife for permission after it will go to the National Council for wildlife for the final approval, an official said at the Ministry of Forestry.
The Gujarat High Court recently directed the Indian train to submit a detailed affidavit on the impact of the proposed extensive measure conversion and electrified railroad tracks that passed the holy gear in lions and other wildlife in the area.
Courts heard civil applications about the impact of the upgrade proposed to the railway and put oil and gas pipes and optical fibers through holy.
“The tar surface of the road that flows from the holy core will cause more small mammalian deaths and will be dangerous for lions and leopards, because many have died in accidents on the recent road,” said lawyer Abhisst Thake, who convey for various causes of wildlife.
He said The Union Forest Ministy, in a letter dated December 22, 2014 to the main secretary of the forest department of all countries, clearly said that new streets would not be proposed in the national park and holy places.
“This proposal is for a new surface road and does not follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Forest Union,” Thaker said.
