Don’t open tourism in Goa so fast, said the expert panel

Panaji: Even as a trade agency, travel and travel association of Goa (TTAG) with enthusiasm waiting for the government to calm all restrictions so that tourism can take off, the expert committee on Wednesday with a unanimous voice decided to ask the government to not open tourism.
quick.
The Expert Committee has decided that the gap between two covishield doses is reduced to six weeks since now 84 days.
“All members agree that tourism cannot be permitted when we don’t know when the third wave will hit us, even though we hope the impact is not severe,” a member of the Expert Committee, without wanting to be named, told TII.
The Expert Committee, consisting of a doctor, will send its advice to the government about Covid management soon.
Considering that the third wave that might show its existence this month or the next, the Expert Committee argues that shortening breaks between the two doses is needed so that the larger part of the population has been fully vaccinated.
On Wednesday, more than 10 lakh people have been vaccinated, but those who have been fully vaccinated are 2,80,695.
Vaccination of a larger number of people, the target population of around 6.5 lakh in brackets ages 18 to 44 years, began in mid-May in Goa.
With a gap between two covishield doses ranging from 12 to 16 weeks, it will be October -November when the majority of the population is fully vaccinated.
“Because there is availability of vaccine stocks, the second dose can be given after six weeks so that the larger population part is protected, we decide,” he said.
The Expert Committee also recommends that not only teachers, but other school staff, including threadmen drivers, bell-boys, peon and school buses must be vaccinated and if not, they should not be allowed to enter school.
“When school reopens, all staff must be vaccinated,” he said.
As for Gouops which regularly cross the border, they can be permitted if they are fully vaccinated and they do not need to be asked to show the Covid-19 negative certificate, provided they have no symptoms of the virus, said the expert committee member said.
“If they have taken both vaccine doses, and if they don’t show symptoms, they must be forgiven from producing a Covid-19 negative certificate,” he said.
At present, people traveling to Goa for businesses and students are released from producing Covid-19 negative certificates as long as they are fully vaccinated.
