New Delhi: In the midst of the increase in the case of fresh Covid-19 infection, the Chairman of the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal was sure he did not need to panic because the Delhi government was ready to face the Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
Kejriwal, however, urged the central government to allow Delhies who was fully vaccinated to take a booster shot, starting with health workers.
In a digital press direction on Monday, CM refused to panic over the Omicron variant and it was a very light variant and the Delhi government was prepared even if some residents needed hospitalization.
“We have made adequate preparations for beds, oxygen, medicines and everything that might be needed to fight the virus,” he said.
“We will not let people from Delhi face difficulties in care.” Kejriwal promises the genome sequencing of each positive sample to determine the variant.
Until now only people who come at the airport are being tested by a variant, but with more than 100 positive cases on Sundays, the genome sequencing of all positive tests will be carried out, he said.
CM said that Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) met on Monday under the leadership of the Governor of Lieutenant Anil Baijal to discuss the Covid situation.
“We consider the impacts and problems caused by variants with experts, who told us that the omicron variant spread rapidly but was mild,” Kejriwal said.
“Someone might fever and other symptoms.
The need for hospitalization is very low overall and the possibility of death is also very low.” He said that 99% of Delhi’s population who qualified had received at least one dose of Covid vaccine while 70% was now fully vaccinated.
He appealed to the center to allow the booster dose.
“We have infrastructure to manage booster doses.
We can start with our health workers and then other populations,” he said.
CM asks everyone to wear facial masks in public places.
“We have seen how people have reduced the use of masks on the market.
Our safety is in our own hands and the mask is the best defense against Covid.
Everyone must take a serious situation and start wearing a mask again,” he advised.
He added, “After discussions with experts, we came to the conclusion that this time, home isolation would be better to handle infection and have decided to improve our home insulation program.” CM leads a high-level meeting with all the authorities relating to November 30 to review the state’s readiness to Covid.
The Delhi government said in a statement that 30,000 covid beds were rated ready in the city, with 100 beds per ward regulated as and when needed at two weeks notice, taking total sleep capacity in Delhi to more than 64,000 beds.
In addition, 6,800 ICs will also be ready immediately, the statement said.
