Don’t take lung disease lightly, it’s not unusual cold, say doctor Goa

Panaji: Before the Covid Pandemic swept the country, people who experienced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) might lead their lives with cough attacks and wheezers, and many, especially those who live in rural areas, can easily brush the conditions as ordinary colds.
But no longer.
The doctor said comorbidity should not be taken lightly because it increases the chances of worsening a person’s condition in positive testing for Covid-19.
In fact, some people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease have died during a pandemic, and most of them come from country rural parts.
“The problem in Goa is that people tend to dismiss the COPD as a simple cold.
We have seen many patients like that, most senior citizens, from the outskirts of the country that come to us in critical conditions, on the eighth day or on the tenth day of Covid Contracts 19, “Dr.
Rylind Pereira, a Pentus in the North of the Goa District Hospital, told TII.
During the second Covid-19 wave, the hospital has handled more than 800 infected patients, the majority of this comes from the edge of North Goa.
Pereira said many patients walking to the hospital with a positive Covid-19 report in the hands still insisted, ‘Mhaka Matxi Thandi Zalea’ (I have fun).
“Hospital, he said, saw 15-18 patients with COPD every week – the majority of them women – derived from the cave rural part.” That’s because they (women) generally use wood stoves to cook, while men tend to suffer from COPD because of smoking habits they.
This condition looks mostly after one round 40, “Pereira said.
Even though a patient might cough for three to four years and display other classical symptoms of the COPD, there is a possibility that the condition will not be taken seriously.” That’s because the stigma attached to the COPD and Also because people don’t like to recognize their condition, “he said.
Another problem with rural patients, pulmonary words, is that they will most likely not be diagnosed in time because they will go to their family doctor or try home treatment, and visit Hospital as the last choice.
“But at that time, it might be too late.”
