Pune: Only 80% of beneficiaries in the 18-44-year-old group have received the first shot of the Covid vaccine until December 22, are almost not a week before the deadline reaches 100% of the first dose vaccination in the state.
The first dose coverage for this age group is below the country’s average in almost 27 districts, according to data that is updated until December 22.
The delay in 18-year vaccination in rural and urban areas has affected the total percentage of vaccinations in most districts, declared officials.
Metro cities such as Mumbai and Pune have reached 100% of the first dose vaccination for the 18-44 year age group.
Also, coverage in Raigad, Palghar, Thane, Nagpur, Bhandara and Chandrapur are above the country’s average.
Under 80% in other districts.
“We have urged members of this age group to get vaccinations.
But the weakness has crawled among them.
Even under the threat of omicrons, there is no urgency between them to be inoculated,” said a nodal officer, who commit immunization.
The rate of vaccination in the state has increased at the beginning of the month because of scare omicron.
But gradually tapering after people know that the symptoms of the new variant are light.
Other health officials say parents must take responsibility for young people and ensure that they will be vaccinated.
“This age group is a group of travel and the number of vaccinations should be far more.
The first dose vaccination in districts such as Nandurbar, Beed, Osmanabad and the staturation below 66%,” the official said.
The center and state health officials previously stated that increased vaccination was a necessity after the emergence of Omicron.
The center shows that the first and second dose coverage is below the national average in 11 states, including Maharashtra.
The average of India’s national for the first and second doses is 88.7% and 60.7%, respectively.
The state figures until December 24 are 87% for the first dose and 56% for the second.
