New Delhi: The anti-covid jab available in India is around 97% effective in preventing death, while vaccination also significantly reduces hospitalization, the assessment of real-time vaccination data captured under the Covid vaccine tracker.
The tracker who will soon be launched also provides data for the government to monitor re-infection and breakthrough after vaccination, officials said.
Data analysis showed a single dose of Covid vaccine was 96.6% effective in preventing death, while the two jab shots were 97.5% effective, the board of Indian Medical Research Directors Bhargava said.
“This vaccine is a modifying disease because they prevent serious diseases and deaths.
They are not a disease of prevention.
So, breakthrough vaccination will occur even after vaccination and that is why we continue to recommend that even after vaccination a person must continue to use the mask and continue with that behavior According to Covid, “said Balram Bhargava, Director General, Indian Medical Research Council.
The data analyzed was for the period between April and August and did not distinguish between the different Covid vaccines currently given in this country, added Bhargava.
Trackers combine data from Co-Win, National Covid-19 testing database and Covid-19 Indian portal from the Ministry of Health to understand vaccination trends.
“Data so far has shown the same effectiveness in all age groups in preventing mortality,” Bhargava said.
Meanwhile, the Causality Assessment Report 88 reported serious bad events after Covid immunization showed 61 of 88 cases having a causal association that was consistent with vaccination.
Of the 61 cases, 37 is a reaction related to vaccine products, while 22 cases are reactions related to immunization anxiety, and 2 cases are reactions related to immunization errors.
Apart from 61 of these cases, 18 other cases have causal associations that are not consistent with vaccination (incidentally – not related to vaccination) including 3 cases of death.
Rest nine cases – of a total of 88 cases – are in “uncertain categories” including 2 cases of death, the AEFI report approved by the National AEFI Committee on June 28 said.
At present, the Serum Institute of India Covishield is the majority of the dosage given in the country, followed by Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin which gradually increases supply.
