Mumbai: The weather department on Wednesday issued alert to Maharashtra’s capital, with several parts of Mumbai and Thane had witnessed heavy rain.
The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has indicated heavy rain in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar.
Meanwhile, the weather department also predicts very heavy rain in several other parts of Maharashtra including Raigad, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Aurangabad, Jalna and Wardha.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai City received 32.5 mm rainfall from 8am to 2 noon on Wednesday.
Eastern suburbs recorded 12.72 mm and the western edge recorded 17.0 mm rainfall.
Deputy Director General at IMD, Mumbai, KS Hosalali, said that estimates with the IMD showed light until heavy rainfall on Wednesday in Maharashtra, especially in North Konkan, North Maharashtra Madhya, and part of Vidarbha.
This year the monsun was stated on June 9, two days before the official onset date.
Meanwhile, local train services run normally.
There are no remote trains that have been rescheduled too.
IMD Colaba and Observatory Santacruz have reported rainfall of 1657.4 mm and 2235.8 mm since June 1 is advised not to explore and outside the coast of North and South Maharashtra-Goa until August 20.
