Rajkot/Vadodara: Heavy downpour lashed Rajkot and Vadodara on Sunday leading to waterlogging from many areas of the 2 cities.
Though a maximum of 51mm of rain was recorded in Rajkot, at Vadodara several trees had been uprooted because of the powerful winds that followed the rain.
Rains continued to pound Rajkot to the next successive day on Sunday.
Many streets in town confronted waterlogging problems in just three hours of heavy downpour.
On Sundaythe west coast of town obtained the greatest rain at 51mm followed closely by 44mm from the zone and 34mm from the coastal zone.
Waterlogging premiered in Raiya Chokdi, Madhapar chokdi, Azad chowk, Popatpara Nala, Saurashtra Kala Kendra, Laxminagar Nalu and Prem Mandir region of Rajkot town.
In Vadodara, the heavens were overcast since the weather section had predicted rainfall.
It being Sunday, the Barodians thronged the Akota-Dandia Bazaar Road to appreciate the cool breeze and clogs.
Nevertheless, the heavy showers followed with powerful winds left them amazed.
Based on current officials, the Vadodara city obtained 20mm of rain in a hour Sunday.
The streets in town such as Raopura, Dandia Bazaar, Mandvi, Panigate along with Khanderao Market were abandoned waterlogged for two or three hours.
“At the very least a dozen trees have been uprooted as a result of rains.
We’re still receiving complaints,” said a fire officer.
The Vadodara civic governments, however, are about overdrive to make certain city streets do not face waterlogging or see potholes throughout the monsoons.
Aside from the town, Padra taluka obtained 40mm of rain Sunday.
In Saurashtra area, Jamnagar’s Kalavad obtained the greatest rainfall of 75mm.
Many elements of Saurashtra area received mild to moderate rain.
Vadiain Amreli district, obtained 34mm of rain while Thangadh of Surendranagar obtained 35mm and Maliya-Miyana of all Morbi district obtained 36mm of rain.
