Deepika Padukone will bring raw, real and flawed characters to the big screen in the director of ‘Gehrayaan’ Shakun Batra.
At the trailer launch event, the actress collaborated with the Director for the first time he had to explore deeply to play Alisha in the Noir relationship drama.
Recognizing that playing the part was difficult, he said that the role required him to ‘naked emotionally’ and that his emotions had to come from deep places.
Revealing how he was emotionally intended by his character, he said, “I have to dig deep places and revisit unpleasant.
I have to revisit the experience of my own life, and [my experience] dealing with mental health problems.
All It [helped me play] this character that needs raw, naked and vulnerable.
”

Batra also added that he tried to make DP personal experience as part of the film.
“We talk about his anxiety, his experience in different relationships and how we can make part of the story.
I tried to withdraw the truth to the character,” revealed.
Said the film was not like anything we saw so far in Bollywood, batra added, “Here, the affair is not below the garbage found that one true love.
I tried to explore the relationship that stepped out of conventional boundaries.”

The producer Karan Johar also added that film trailers only scratch the surface of the core story and have more to offer.
“The trailer scratches the surface but there are more than more than fulfilling the eyes.
In advance, you might think it’s a film about affair-based relationships but not only that.
It talks about more, choices and consequences of far more,” Johar said during Virtual trailer launch event.

He continued to add, “Gehrayaan is a film about the power of love, lust and longing by millennial and how they react to love, lust and longing and how it is about the choices they can make.

The film which is also Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa is scheduled to release OTT on February 11.
