DPITI holds stakeholder meetings in the proposed e-comm policy

New Delhi: The industrial and internal trade promotion department (DPIIT) on Tuesday held a meeting with various stakeholders, including domestic and foreign companies, in the proposed e-commerce policy, a official said.
The meeting was attended by domestic and foreign e-commerce companies in addition to Domestic Traders Cait (Confederations of all Indian traders) and associations related to the MSME sector, the official added.
According to sources, problems such as the lack of playground between online and offline retailers were raised.
E-commerce companies, on the other hand, highlights that they run various programs that allow lakh small businesses to go digital.
Query sent to players like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Reliance did not get any response.
In a statement, Cait said the meeting was attended by all distributors of Indian consumer products (AICPDF), Indian retailers associations, Laghu Udyog Bharti, and the Federation of Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises India (FISS).
Representatives of e-commerce companies, including Amazon and Flipkart, also attended a virtual meeting, chaired by additional Secretary of Anil Agarwal DPIIT, along with other senior officials from the Ministry.
Confirming its participation in the meeting, Cait Secretary General Pravenen Khandelwal said the e-commerce policy must have clear provisions about transparent operations of e-commerce platforms, easy accessibility and adequate complaint rejection system, and non-discriminatory access market platforms for all stakeholders .

It must also have provisions regarding the avoidance of conflicts of interest among market platforms, sellers and various service providers on the platform.
The meeting has significance because the department is in the process of formulating policies.
