DPR by Startup offers cost-effective SWM in the city

Mangaluru: City-based startup associated with Mangaluru Ramakrishna mathematics, claiming that detailed project reports (DPR) for solid waste management (SWM) submitted by Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) cost effective, and it will reduce the financial burden of urban local bodies .
Startup Mangala Resource Management Private Limited (MRMPL) claims that their DPR does not only offer door-to-door waste collection, but will also manage scientific waste in TPA in Pachanady.
Startup will carry out the entire process at the same cost as MCC pays the current Antony Cell Private Limited (AWHCPL) waste blanket, for waste collection and transportation.
City Corporation agreed to the DPR prepared by agency in September, to invite tenders to SWM, after the AWHCPL contract ended.
However, Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra directed the startup to hand over the DPR.
Swami Ekagamyananda from Ramakrishna Math told TI that Mathematics established Mangala Resource Management (MRM) three years ago, and has managed to manage waste in uppinangady, 41 villages in Udupi and several industries and institutions.
“According to the DPR approved by the MCC in September, City Corporation will have an additional burden of Rs 38 Crore to buy vehicles, and City Corporation must also spend around RS 55 Crore per year as a recurring cost.
We have proposed in our DPR, that we will Gathering separate waste from the source, transporting it to the TPA, and also processing it at the same cost, “he said.
“We will buy the necessary vehicles themselves.
According to our calculations, Rs 10 Crore is enough to get a vehicle.
We are ready to process an average of 250 tons, including wet and dry waste collected from the city per day.
Only about 5% of waste that can be Going to the landfill location, and the rest of the waste will be processed by us, “he said, adding that City Corporation must provide land and develop infrastructure to process waste in pachanady.
“At present, City Corporation pays Rs 3,750 per ton for waste collection and transportation.
We offer that waste will be collected, transported and processed at the same cost, and there will be no escalation of accusations every year.
Instead of escalation, our DPR also offers Reduction of 5% -10% in payments every year.
In the long run, we will be able to do the whole process without finding payments from PKS, and gradually after years, City Corporation will benefit from SWM, “he said, adding that the DPR delivered By MRMPL is expected to be discussed at the council meeting after the MLC poll.
