Dr. Bhagwan Das, a Freedom-Fighter and Scholar Par Excellence

VARANATION: The first recipient of Bharat Ratna from Kashi, Dr.
Bhagwan Das, was used to hold a leading personality such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Cr Das and others, at his home in Sigra Locality of Varanasi.Born on January 12, 1869, Dr.
Bhagwan.
The birthday of the birth of the watershed will be celebrated on Wednesday.
“Immediately after becoming the first Independent Indian Prime Minister, PT Jawaharlal Nehru visited Varanasi, and he came to our house in Sigra to pay respect for my grandfather Bhagwan Das Ji,” Dr.
Pushkar Ranjan, Retired Professor of Anesthesiology and critical care of the Hindu University of Banaras.
PT Nehru also visited the house several times during the freedom struggle.
“Dr.
Radhakrishnan as Deputy Chancellor Bhu also visited our house several times and was used to having a long discussion with Dadiji about philosophy and various important subjects,” said Ranjan, who has made a collection of old photos and books written by Dr.
Bhagwan Das.Dr Bhagwan Das belongs to the famous Kashi family.
After a brilliant career as a student, he joined government services in 1890 as Tehsildar, and in 1894 he was promoted as a representative of collectors and judges.
He resigned from government services in 1898 after his father’s death in 1897.
The same year (1898) Annie Besant, President Theosophical Society, established Central Hindu College to rehabilitate all the big and noble in Oriental culture.
Dr.
Bhagwan Das began working with him.
He has written a book, ‘Sanatana Dharma: A Advanced Textbook for Hinduism and Ethics’ in 1904, adds to the Dharma Series series from a textbook published by College.
He, together with Annie Besant, published the Bhagavad Gita translation in 1906, giving the original Sanskrit verses and English translations.
He served Hindu College as Honorary Secretary for 15 years (1899-1914).
He is also active in theosophic society and plays an important role in the development of the Branch of the Banaras from the community.
He devoted his time in the Study of Hindu Scriptures such as Vedas and Manusmriti and their interpretation through books and articles for scholars and lay people.
He wrote a number of books and became famous as a very educated man and a Vedic scholar campus campus itself.
Dr.
Bhagwan Das was nominated as one of the five Honorary Association Secondary Secretary of the Bhu Management Committee.
He was also nominated as a member of the university court, the Senate and other bodies.
Aligning his political journey in 1919, he became the President of the Upper Social Conference, and in 1920 he led a political conference, and immediately became an important member of the Indian National Congress.
He took part in the non-cooperation movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in August 1920.Berified publications for their credit include: swaraj outline scheme (along with C.

Dr.
Bhagwan Das was a Honorary Doctorate degree given to Bhu in 1929 and by the University of Allahabad in 1937.Nation gave him the highest award Bharat Ratna to him in 1955 as a sign of recognition of his valuable service.
He died on September 18, 1958 at the age of 90.
