GOMA, DR CONGO: A river of melted lava came to a stop on the outskirts of Goma on Sunday, rescuing town in southern DR Congo from tragedy after the night eruption of Mount Nyiragongo sent tens of thousands of terrified citizens fleeing in terror.
Fire and powerful fumes emanated in your blackish molten rock as it consumed homes, going towards Goma airport to the beaches of Lake Kivu, an AFP correspondent said.
Nevertheless, the military governor of North Kivu province said”that the town had been spared” later”the lava stopped near Buhene about the outskirts of Goma”.
Five people were killed in mishaps during the evacuations, stated General Constant Ndima, that had been appointed governor early this month once the state was put under a”state of siege” to fight violence by armed groups.
