New Delhi: Delhi Roll Electoral Draft published on Monday shows the number of voters falling one lakh in the city compared to the last roll published in January, officials said.
The total number of voters in Delhi stood at 1.47.95,549 in a draft roll, with the name 3,19,222 voters, including more than 59,000 who died, deleted and added by the data distributed by Delhi Head of the Election Officer Ranbir Singh at the press conference here.
He said there was a net decline of 1,02,520 voters in the draft roll.
“From this (the name deleted), 59,423 is a deceased voter, and 2.51,062 permanently shifted out of Delhi and 8,737 names have duplicate entries, so, this is deleted accordingly,” Singh said.
There was a decrease in the number of male and female voters since January 15 when the last selection roll was published.
Asked whether the death was largely caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, the CEO said, the cause of death was not known by the polls authority, “So, we cannot say if it’s a factor”.
According to the Delhi government health department bulletin issued on Sunday, 25,091 people have died of Coronavirus infection since the Pandemic outbreak here in March 2020.
The number of male, women and gender voters in the latest rolls 88,031; 67.06.570; and 948, respectively.
The numbers for the last roll are – 81,58,180; 67.38,976 and 913 respectively.
With the release of the Draft Electoral Roll, the Election Commission has also initiated a process to induce new voters, who have been 18 years old or will resolve that age on January 1 next year, in the election list.
“Revised Summary of Special Election Users In connection with January 1, 2022 as a qualification date, it has begun in all 70 Delhi assembly constituencies, with the design of the election publication on November 1, 2021,” CEO said.
In addition, including new voters, other objectives for summary revision exercises are providing opportunities for corrections to voter information and also to invite objections to inclusion of the wrong selection.
People can file claims and objections on November 30.
“Special camps at all polling station locations, as well as homeless residents in Dusib Shelter and other places will be held,” said a senior official.
The final selection roll will be published on January 5, 2022.
Delhi has 70 assembly constituity (ACS) and seven sea sabha seats.
Assembly Constituencies have a maximum (4,28,340) temporary voters Delhi Cantonment has a minimum (1,10,255) in that category.
Among the assembly seats, Tilak Nagar (AC-29) have the highest gender ratio at 950, while Tuxlakabad (AC-52) has the lowest at 684.
Thirty-six seats have a gender ratio more than the country’s gender ratio – 829.
