Hyderabad: Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) has developed sophisticated Chaff technology to protect the Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter on hostile radar threats.
Jodhpur Defense Laboratory, a Laboratory of Drdo developed sophisticated chaff material and Chaff-118 / I cartridges in collaboration with the High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune Drdo-based Laboratory, fulfilled the IAF qualitative requirements.
The Indian Air Force has started the induction process of this technology after completing a successful user trial.
In current electronic warfare, the survival of combat aircraft is very alarming due to progress in modern radar threats.
To ensure the continuity of the aircraft, the CMDS expenditure system (CMDS) is used which provides passive traffic jams to infrared and radar threats.
Chaff is a critical defense technology used to protect combat aircraft from hostile radar threats.
The importance of this technology lies in the fact that very few chaffif material deployed in the air acts as a bait to deflect enemy missiles to ensure fighter aircraft security.
This technology has been given to the industry for large amounts of production to meet the annual roll needs of the Indian Air Force, the Defense Ministry said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has praised Drdo, IAF, and the industry for the development of this critical technology, filling it as one more steps of Drdo against ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in strategic defense technology.
The Secretary of the R & D defense department and Chair of the Drdo Dr.
G Satheesh Reddy congratulated the team related to the success of the development of this advanced technology which will further strengthen the Indian Air Force.
