New Delhi: Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force jointly carried out two flight tests from smart airfield weapons developed smoothly in Jaisalmer Rajasthan, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.
Two different configurations (from weapons) based on satellite navigation and electro-optical sensors have been tested, said in a statement.
The electro-optical search-based flight test from this bomb class has been carried out for the first time in this country, the statement is mentioned.

“Weapons were launched by the Indian Air Force aircraft from Chandan Ranges in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on October 28 and November 3,” the Ministry said.
In both tests, the target in question was beaten with high accuracy, he said.

“System (weapons) is designed for a maximum range of 100 kilometers.
The newly adapted launcher ensures the release and expulsion of a smooth weapon,” he said.
