Drive launched to curb drug use among children

Thiruvananthapuram: Excise Ministry, Mission Vimukthi and Kudumbasree Mission together launched the program to visit houses to create awareness among children about the dangers of alcohol and narcotics.
With ‘Say not to drink, say no drugs’ as a message, workers from two missions, along with members of the Civic-Body council, interact with children in 150 households each Vallakkadavu and Poonthura Wards within the limits of City Corporation.
In addition to talking to children about the harmful effects of drugs, the team also gave them pam books and pamphlets JA Abdul Kalam who brought a message to narcotics use.
The home visit was led by the Assistant Commissioner of Excise P K Jayaraj, who was also the Mission Manager of Vimukthi (Thiruvananthapuram district), a member of the Shajitha Nasser board and Mary Gypsy, among others.
Vimukthi mission and Kudumbashree volunteers will jointly continue the anti-drug drive by visiting houses in the next few days in other regions in corporations and local agencies of the Thiruvananthapuram district.
Home visits are part of the anti-drug awareness campaign held in the regional coastal area.
Mahatma Gandhi’s messages, who carry out nonstop battles against drug addiction through their constructive program, will be reproduced in mission mode as part of a campaign that mainly targets young people.
Apart from this, the ‘Unarvu’ project of the Excise Ministry which aims to curb the use of drugs among under school children.
