New Delhi: Minister of Houses Amit Shah on Saturday said drone attacks, cyber attacks, narcotics trade, fake currencies and trade of Hawala were the biggest challenge for police forces and asked the Police Research and Development Bureau (BPR & D) to assess this trait and Learn best practices around the world to compile effective and timely solutions.

He suggested that BPR & D work on modernization or improve the training and operational capabilities of the central armed police forces, especially given the challenges they face on international borders including maritime borders.
Impressive on the need to strengthen the ‘beat’ system, Shah asks BPR & D to increase efforts to revive, update and technically improve this mechanism for basic level policing.
Teaching a campaign to damage the image of the police by highlighting negative stories and ignoring positive developments, Shah remembers how exemplary work carried out by police forces during the Covid crisis has won the appreciation of citizens.
“Their good work during the Covid period must be documented by central forces and all state police,” suggesting Minister of Home Affairs.
Shah specifically called mod to government efforts to strengthen the legal framework for better policing through amendments to laws such as UPA, Nia Act, FCRA.

The Head of BPR & D Srivastava, in his remarks address, said that the organization was conducting a training program on space technology with the help of advanced data processing institutions (ADRIN), ISRO, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity).
It also signed the MoU with the National Commission for Women last month to train police personnel in women’s rights and safety, he added.
As desired by the Minister of Home Affairs, the Operandi modus bureau has been established here BPR & D to help understand the behavior and criminal tendency.
In the past five years, BPR & D has trained around 42,000 Indian police personnel, 4,000 foreign police officers from friendly countries, especially Saarc.
