Baghdad: Drone attacks were beaten near US forces stationed at Erbil International Airport in North Iraq on Saturday, Iraq Kurdish security official said.
Internal security services for the Ocak autonomous Kurdish region, where Erbil is the capital, initially said three rockets had hit the airport.
The second statement by the power of Kurdism counter-terrorism said the attack was carried out by Ledfosive Drone.
There are no direct reports of victims.
Eyewitnesses said they heard at least six explosions in the area.
Airports in Erbil, the capital of the Autonomous Kurdish region, have been attacked several times last year, including by drones carrying explosives.
US officials blamed the previous attack on the Shiite Muslim militia which was in harmony with Iran who had vowed to fight until the remaining 2,500 US military personnel left the country.
US troops lead the international military coalition whose mandates are to help Iraqi forces fight the remains of Sunni extremist Islamic groups.
The coalition did not immediately comment on Saturday’s incident.
