Bhubaneswar: Scientists of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) here have identified 21 Heat Shock Proteins (HSP) from Drumsticks – which are produced by cells in response to exposure to stress conditions – which make drought-resistant plants.
Director of Ajay Parida said the research was conducted by Sushree Shyamali, Seema Pradhan, Mitrabinda Panda and he recently in the International Journal “Frontiers in Plant Science”, can help in the future to use this gene (protein) in other factories to develop resistant varieties drought.
It can also be used to develop more drought-resistant drastick (moringa oleifera), he added.
Further characterization of HSF identified in their drumstick and functional validation in various conditions is being studied to disclose new sources of stress-resistant genes for this important increase in plants, he said.
Because of the high nutritional value, every part of the drumstick plant.
Suitable for the use of nutrition and drugs.
Extracts of leaves are used to treat malnutrition, add breast milk to nursing mothers.
It is used as the potential of antioxidants, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetes and antimicrobial and antimicrobials.
