Ducati India’s most-expensive bikes for 2021 launched

NEW DELHI: Ducati on Monday launched Ducati Panigale V4, and Diavel 1260, expanding its BS-6 range in India.
With the launch of these new models, Ducati has already delivered on 8 of the 12 bike launches promised for India in 2021.
Here is the list of prices (ex-showroom, India): Diavel 1260: Rs 18.49 lakh (Total Black) Diavel 1260 S: Rs 21.49 lakh (Ducati Red and Thrilling Black) Panigale V4: Rs 23.50 lakh Panigale V4 S: Rs 28.40 lakh.
(Both the Panigale versions are available in Ducati Red.) Bookings are now open across all Ducati dealerships in Delhi – NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata & Chennai, and deliveries will begin as soon as lockdown restrictions are lifted.
For 2021, the Panigale V4 and V4 S are BS6 compliant while maintaining the maximum power and torque levels from the 2020 model.
The BS6 version of the Desmosedici Stradale engine delivers 214 horsepowers and 124 Nm of torque.
To eliminate any loss of power with the switch to BS6, the exhaust uses larger catalysts (+10 mm in length) and with a new technology of impregnation of noble metals, essential for maximizing the ability to convert polluting gases.
The new generation aerodynamic package on the Panigale V4 now mirrors that of the V4 R.
It includes Plexiglas (headlight fairing and side fairings), lateral extractors (for efficient airflow over the radiators) and aerodynamic appendages.
The Panigale V4’s electronic package includes the latest generation Ducati Traction Control.
Thanks to the continuous monitoring of the angular acceleration of the crankshaft and the speed of the rear wheel, the system prevents slippage of the rear wheel in mid-corner, when you reopen the throttle at the maximum lean angle.
This translates into a more neutral behavior of the bike when exiting the corners, giving the rider a better feeling.
The electronics package oversees every aspect of the ride: some controls supervise start, acceleration and braking, others govern traction and others again lend a helping hand on corners and out-of-the-corner stretches.
It consists of ABS Cornering EVO Traction Control (DTC) EVO 3, Slide Control (DSC), Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Power Launch (DPL), Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2, Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO and Electronic Suspension (DES) EVO.
The Diavel 1260 BS6 model is heavier by 5kg and tips the scale at 249 kg kerb.
The Ducati Diavel 1260 S, on the other hand, is 2 kg lighter than the standard model.
While the weight has increased, the 1262-cc Ducati Testastretta DVT engine with variable cam timing makes 3bhp more than the predecessor.
The twin-cylinder Diavel 1260 puts out 162 horsepower and 129 Nm.
The gearbox is a six-speed unit and the Diavel 1260 S gets a two-way Quick Shifter as standard.
The riding position and ‘power cruiser’ ergonomics so popular with first-generation Diavel enthusiasts remain unchanged.
What has changed is the chassis set-up.
The Diavel sports a prominent tubular steel Trellis frame.
Anchored to it is an aluminium swingarm, sized to give surprising cornering agility, superb ‘feel’ and easy riding.
In terms of suspension, the Diavel 1260 mounts fully adjustable 50 mm forks.
Damping compression and spring pre-load adjustment are on the left fork tube, while rebound adjustment is located on the right tube.
At the rear, instead, the Diavel 1260 mounts a monoshock with adjustable spring-preload and damping rebound.
The Diavel 1260 S, instead, is equipped with a fully adjustable Öhlins 48 mm fork and a fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorber, also fully adjustable.
This Diavel 1260 is compatible with the Ducati Link App: this lets riders set ‘journey mode’ (a combination of Load Mode and Riding Mode) and personalize the parameters of each individual Riding Mode (ABS, Ducati Traction Control, etc.) in a user-friendly manner via their smartphones.
Riding Modes (Sport, Touring and Urban) give the bike three distinctive personalities.
The Diavel 1260 mounts a 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that dynamically measures roll and pitch angles and the speed of relative changes in attitude, raising performance and safety standards even higher.
Sophisticated electronics guarantees both extraordinary performance and maximum safety.
The electronics package includes Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Power Launch (DPL) and Cruise Control.
Additionally, the bike also gets the “Dragster” mode coiled which can be unleashed thanks to Ducati Power Launch (DPL).
This system guarantees awesome – yet safe – starts thanks to optimised control of the maximum available torque with DTC always on and constant monitoring of the pitch angle by the IMU.
The Diavel 1260 dashboard consists of a TFT screen with a separate warning light module, positioned, respectively, below and above the handlebars.
The dashboard has four different display modes.
The Default mode provides a minimal must-have level of information, presented in an attentively styled manner.
The other three, instead, are the classic Track, Full and City display modes associated with the Riding Modes.
2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4 launched in India at Rs 19.99 lakhBipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “While the Diavel caters to riders looking for a stylish power cruiser to munch miles on, the Panigale is a track enthusiast’s dream and represent Ducati’s best in super bike category.”
