New Delhi: Two men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly damaging the mausoleum wall near CDR Chowk in Southern Delhi Chattarpur, police said.
The defendant Ranjeet and Kanishk, both of them in the early 20s, were residents of Darapur Basai in West Delhi, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, “We received a PCR call at 5:40 a.m.
at the Mehrauli police station that some people tried to solve the ‘Mazhar’ (Mausoleum) near CDR Chowk, Chattarpur.” When our emergency vehicle response (EVR) reached the place, they found that some people tried to destroy the Mazhar wall near the CDR Chowk.
The two men were identified as Ranjeet and Kanishk were arrested from the place, “he said.
A senior police officer said in July, a video said a woman who tried to damage Mazhar in the same area where he claimed that (Mazhar) blocked the movement Traffic.
The case was registered against him and he was arrested in connection with the incident.
“During the interrogation, the Defendant Duo revealed that they had watched the video intended for the woman on the social media platform and influenced.
So, they decided to go to CDR Chowk and destroy Mazhar, “he said.
The Duo has been arrested under the relevant IPC section, police said.
The police said Mazhar was now covered with tarpaulin and surrounded by a temporary road block.
