Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested two men, who allegedly had cheated several women in Pune, Bengaluru and Gurugram on the promise of marriage after they met through a matrimonial site, and exploit some of them sexually.
Duo will introduce themselves to women as senior officials of the central government.
A team of police arrested Nishant Rameshchand Nandvana (33) and Harshad Vishal Sharma (33) of an upmarket residential community in Bengaluru, where they live with a false identity.
Nandvana praises from Kishanganj in Baran district, while Sharma from the city.
Both were brought to Pune on transit shipments and produced before the court.
The court ordered the detention of their custody until January 28 sites.
Based on the details to emerge so far, we have set a value between RS1.25 crore and RS2 crore.
“Police has appealed to all women in and around the city who might come in contact with both the man and may have been duped or exploited, to come forward and lodge their complaints.
Mugalikar said both men would be engaged in a four-wheel upscale, bringing an expensive cell phones, laptops and Apple MacBooks and expensive watches sports.
“Nandvana will introduce himself as the Chief Project Manager of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), while Sharma will present himself as the deputy director of the ‘Center for the Department of Housing and Urban Ministry of Agriculture.
We have recovered 13 mobile phones, laptops, macbook, false ID, pan and Aadhaar card and RS9.5 lakh in cash from the duo.
“Two women were affected in the recent Pune Pimpri Chinchwad approached the Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash with complaints deceived Rs18 lakh.
