Kolkata: Durga Puja in Mohammad Ali Park, which shifted to the adjacent fire station after the underground reservoir wall collapsed in 2019, will return in the park this year.
SHUTI Puja, traditionally done before establishing a pandal, it will be carried out on Wednesday and working on a pandal will begin soon.
Puja will return to the park, its venue since 1967, after two years.
Because of social distingal norms, people will not be allowed to enter the park.
Organizers say they have Rudi-Ved’s permission for Puja from KMC and other agencies.
MD Ali Park, where Pandal will be established, has become a Puja venue from 1967 to 2019, when the underground reservoir wall collapsedsurendra Kumar Sharma, Secretary General of MD Taman MD Ali Durga Puja, “We Thank You for Transportation Minister Firhad Hakim, Mla Nayna Bandyopadhyay and MLA Vivek Gupta for giving us permission to bring back puja to the previous place.
As a physical distance maintenance is mandatory, we have to think about the concept that will avoid crowding near the pandal we believe that people will appreciate our efforts as usual.
“In March 2019 , the reservoir wall of the England era built under the park has collapsed, causing fear of deposits.
The park was then closed with visitors and puja held inside the fire station.
A team of experts from Jadavpur University and the engineer from KMC felt it would be at risk for holding the puja in the park after the wall collapsed.
Puja was originally detained at the fire extinguisher until 1967, after which shifted to Mohammad Ali Park.
“We are pleased that the tradition is not damaged after an accident and puja is held at the adjacent fire station,” Sharma said.
Because of the pandemic, restrictions, and social blasphemy norms, the pandal will be arranged with his facade to Central Avenue this year.
“Nothing will be allowed to enter the park.
People must offer prayers from the road and move forward.
We have made this decision by considering the associated pandemic and rules,” Sharma said.
