Noida: The Uttar Pradesh pollution control body (UPPCB) has sent a notification that reminds the authority of Noida about taking adequate dust control measures in places in Noida-Greater Noida Expressway which is under repair.
It also asks for authority to ensure that repair work is not an obstacle to facilitating traffic movements.
UPPCB Notification Following repeated complaints from residents of the closest sectors hired by the contractor by the authority to repair the road not to make construction material closed or sprinkle water to help dust.
“The repair work will take your own time.
But the contractor must ensure minimum air pollution during the process.
We have asked for authority to sprinkle water regularly on stretches, which are not done until now,” Utsav Sharma said, regional officer uppcb.
Sharma said that other causes of concern are traffic congestion caused by repair work.
He showed that vehicles stranded in one place were also added to pollution.
“For road projects that take place for a longer period, the traffic must be transferred or arranged in a way that is not awaited by the vehicle.
It needs to be ascertained along the toll road,” Sharma said.
Officials say dust pollution is very intense around the stretch between Mahamaya Flyover and Phase 2 in Noida to the larger noida route.
Three underpasses are also being built on a freeway, which adds pollution without the right precautions, officials said.
Noida authorities official claims all dust control steps are being taken on the repair site.
They said the contractor would be reminded to ensure more water sprinkles.
By approaching winter, the pollution control department works on the action plan and reminds the authority to take control of dust control in the middle of this month, when air quality usually starts to deteriorate.
Through most of August and September, AQI remains in the ‘good’ and ‘moderate’ category, thanks to an extended monsoon.
However, Monday, Aqi was at 94 (satisfying) in Noida and 128 (medium) in Greater Noida.
Earlier this week, the UPPCB had written to Noida authorities, the Ghaziabad Development Authority and other institutions to prepare a list of sites where city solid waste, horiculture and disassembly and disassembly (C & D) were resolved.
Authorities are asked to clean the earliest sites.
