Den Haag: Dutch coach Frank de Boer resigned on Tuesday after the elimination of the Dutch 2020 euros in the Czech Republic.
De Boer’s decision came as speculation installed in his future as Oranje manager after losing a team of 2-0 in Budapest on Sunday night.
“I have decided not to continue as a national coach.
The target has not been achieved, which is clear,” De Boer, 51, said in a statement released by the Federation Federation of the Netherlands KNVB.
De Boer said when he was appointed in 2020 it was “honor” but he was also “aware of the pressure that would befall me since I was appointed”.
“The pressure only increases now, and it is not a healthy situation for me, or for the squad in run-up for the match that is so important for Dutch football on the way to World Cup qualifiers.” The KNVB said in any case, the contract de Boer stipulates that the team must reach at least the quarter-finals, adding “the contract will not be extended”.
“It has been decided that both parties will separate,” KNVB added, spoke from his headquarters at Zeist near the city center Utrecht.
Short Tenure de Boer at the leaders of the Dutch soccer team who used to be Perkasa, who won the European Championship in 1988 but had struggled in recent years, also meant that he would not be responsible for the World Cup qualification against Norway in Septun.
“Despite Frank’s hard work, the team did not reach the quarter-finals.
We hope for a better Euro and Frank’s choice turns out to be different from what we expect,” said the KNVB Director Nico-Jan Hoogma.
