Amsterdam: A group of hospitals in South Dutch Province Limburg on Tuesday called on the government to take new steps to stem Covid-19 cases, by saying that they did not have space or staff to handle more correnavirus patients.
Coronavirus infection in the Netherlands, such as in other parts of Europe, is close to the highest of all time despite adult vaccination rates around 85%.
Prime Minister Last week Mark Government Rutte announced new steps to slow down the spread of the virus, two months after canceling social distance rules.
New steps include reintroduction facial masks in stores and wider use of the evidence of the “Corona Pass” state vaccination.
However, the continued case and the Institute for Health (RIVM) of the Netherlands will release a new infection rate on Tuesday that can pass the highest time of 12,997 cases reported on December 20.
“We went straight to the health care disaster and the whole system became jammed,” said five hospitals in Limburg in a letter to the Government Rutte.
“We believe the other Dutch will soon follow us.” They urged new steps including immediately starting with booster faccination shots for elderly and vulnerable patients.
The Government Rutte has said that it will offer Booster Shots to patients above the age of 60 times six months has passed since they were fully vaccinated.
His government will announce whether to take new steps at the press conference is scheduled for Friday.
