JAMNAGAR: Deputy Mamlatdar posted in Jamnagar in Gujarat was arrested on Saturday by the State Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes from a shopkeeper, an official said.
He demanded Rs 10,000 from the shopkeeper to facilitate the issuance of the license to sell firecrackers in front of Diwali, the official said.
“Deputy Mamlatdar Chetan Upadhyay was held in the Gokulnagar area while accepting the number of bribes and was indicted under the prevention of the provisions of the Corruption Law.
He was also caught in accepting bribes when he was posted at the previous Zonal Darbargadh office.
He was suspended at that time but then restored,” the official said.
