Mumbai: Deputy police supervisor (DSP) and his assistant police officer from Parbhani was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the end of Friday to extort, demanding and accepting RS 10 Lakh bribes from a businessman.
The search for DSP Rajendra Pal’s House resulted in recovery of countless cash 24.84 lakh.
PAL (55) served as a sub-division (SDO) police officer in Selu, Parbhani.
His accomplice, police assistant police, has been identified as Ganesh Chavan (37).
Both have been ordered under the prevention of corruption laws and returned to police custody.
According to ACB, the complainants were squeezed for ‘unpleasant’ phone calls between him and the dead friend’s wife.
Records of phone calls become viral.
“The conversation is rather unpleasant.
PAL is called a complainant, threatened and demands the number of Rs 2 Crore, ” said an official.
This is the second case where the ACB Mumbai unit has put a trap like that.
Last week, they arrested RTO officers in Aurangabad.
