E-Challans from RS 25 Crore Issued, Recovery Only 12%

Rajkot: With more than 500 cameras installed throughout the city, Rajkot Traffic Police have succeeded in identifying those who violate traffic rules but very few of them finally pay a fine.
During the year passed, Rajkot Traffic Police issued e-Challsan with a total RS 25.10 Crore but only 12% of the restored amount of violators.
The police also collected Rs 7 Crore as a fine spot during the same period.
The camera was installed in many parts of the city capture incidence violating traffic rules such as jumping over red signals, driving on the wrong side and driving a chair three times.
A traffic team of traffic sent e-Challans to traffic violators along with photographs of violations.
Police issued 5.37 lakh e-challans such as Rs 25.10 Crore last year.
Also, using a cellphone application, traffic police issued 80,000 challans, collecting Rs 4.28 Crore as a fine.
The police also collected Rs 91 lakh through good cases and courts.
Through 26,000 cases of vehicle towers from the parking zone, traffic police collected a fine of Rs 1.78 Crore.
Police Rajkot claimed that thanks to better traffic management, road accident incidents were reduced by 17% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
City police are also provided with road safety awards.
City traffic officials said that traffic was well managed even though many development activities were being carried out in many parts of the city.
At present, eight bridges are being built in the city and peripheral areas and traffic is managed by providing a transfer route, the police claim.
