New Delhi: Eighteen State and UTS have accumulated around RS 1,975 Crore Fines through e-Challans on violations of traffic regulations since September 2019 when motor vehicle laws are amended by increasing sharp punishment for violations.
Uttar Pradesh has collected a maximum fine of RS 545 Crore, followed by Bihar with RS 488 Crore and Delhi RS 244 Crore during September 2019 and July 2021, according to government data.
Haryana and Tamil Nadu come fourth and fifth on the list.
In Delhi, a fine collected from violations of the traffic rules of almost Rs 175 Crore, namely 71% of the total fines collected by traffic police and the transportation department.
Tops Delhi among states and UTS as far as the number of e-challs concerned records the 2 Crore Challan.
Official quotes two reasons; The number of high vehicles and more CCTV cameras on the road to record violations.
Before 2019, very few countries went for the e-challan system.
This center encourages electronic recording violating the rules of motorized vehicles and issuing challans in countries.
The increase in fines under the new law has resulted in collecting more penalties, stated by countries can increase IT-based enforcement and for road safety, source words.
