Vellore: Vellore Head Post Office has opened an exclusive counter to allow people to send e-post greetings for the silver medalist Olympics Mirabai Chanu only with RS 10.
People can send e-posts with messages, ‘Lucky of the Indian Olympic team’ at Front of the event.
Arjuna Awardee M Tamil Selvan, who currently works as a postman in the Vellore Division, officially launched the counter before the Post Office Supervisor (Vellore Division) P Komal Kumar on Thursday.
Weightlifter Tamil Selvan pocketed a silver medal at the heavy men’s heavy event in 1978 Commonwealth Games and in Men’s Feather Classes in 1982 Commonwealth Games.
Kumar said this facility aims to recognize the achievements of medalists and motivate sportsmen to perform better for the country at Olympic events.
He appealed to people to use facilities to greet Chanu, which made all citizens proud.
