E-Ricks forms 17.82% of passenger autos

Nagpur: Even though the government strongly advocated and announced benefits to switch to electrical transportation modes from conventional fuel mode, sales and e-rickshaw registration slowly took.
Only 17.82% e-rickshaws are placed on the road even though many exceptions offered for vehicles operated with batteries such as paying registration fees, annual fitness costs, etc.
In accordance with the data obtained from the regional transportation office of the city of Nagpur and representatives, the city has 22,506 registered automatic rickshaws, while only 4,012 e-rickshaws have been given a nod to operate.
Sources, however, estimate that around 2,000 e-pying rickshaws in the city are illegally.
The e-becak vehicle dealer in the city claims that he took slowly.
In accordance with the statistics obtained from the regional transportation department, sales of e-rickshaw increased in 2019-20 because the East office and the city registered 869 passenger vehicles operated with the battery.
However, because of a pandemic, like another vehicle, e-rickshaw also witnessed the southern trend.
Dealers say with the increase in fuel prices, especially gasoline (which is more than Rs 111 per liter), the sale of passenger vehicles operated with batteries will definitely have a bright future in the city.
Even the cost of maintenance is very lacking, they claim.
The dealer shows that the authorickshaw owner spends at least Rs10,000 to Rs 15,000 per year for various costs such as Rs 600 for fitness tests, Rs 9,000 for insurance, Rs 200 for operated pollution, while vehicles operated with batteries do not cost like that.
Toi tours many areas in the city and found that this e-rickshaw becak was more widely used in the old city area, including the Gandhibagh area and expensive, as the last miles connectivity.
Even in North Nagpur, a large number of Richhsaw operated with batteries looks like a preference as a local transportation mode.
With amazing customer autorickshaw drivers and inadequate Aapli bus services, residents from North, East and Central Nagpur feel the e-rickshaw has brought great relief.
Komuters said E-Rickshaw was the most convenient mode of transportation in this part of town.
Without city bus services in many areas, e-rickshak has come as a very affordable alternative.
They charge between RS5 and RS10, depending on the distance.
Rating commuters, Congress Corprolator Manoj Sangole shows that in North Nagpur, the e-rickshaw driver is a route that is in groups such as Sugat Nagar Chowk, Teka Naga, Samta Nagar Chowk etc.
Similar is a scenario in eastern and middle Nagpur.
Even in the old city area, it has become an affordable choice.
However, when the government has allowed e-rickshaws to operate on city roads, RTO has made a decision not to allow vehicle plying operated with batteries on a busy and major highway, including Central Avenue, Wardha Road and Amravati Road and Amravati Road.
Apart from the guidelines for e-rickshaws that can be operated by vehicles only on the internal pathway, the vehicle looks operational even on the main road.
Not RTO and Traffic Police enforce the rules.
* 22,506 registered automatic rickshaw * 4,012 e-rickshaw * e-becak is allowed to ply in the internal pathway only * less than autos * preferred in the north, central & south of Nagpur
