Ranchi: The country on Tuesday reported four Covid deaths, all from East Singbhum Regency, and 4,719 new cases.
Active cases edged closer to 30,000, according to Bulletin Covid-19 issued by the State Health Department at night.
In less than a week, more than a dozen deaths have been reported from all countries even as health experts have been associated that the ongoing third wave is mainly triggered because the omicron variant is less deadly and not many patients need hospitalization.
Experts said the death rate was high among them with severe comorbid conditions.
However, they added that it was still unclear whether new cases were caused by Delta or Omicron variants because Jharkhand did not have a genome sequencing machine to identify tensions.
Sample reports that have been sent to other countries to sort have not arrived yet.
Meanwhile, Ranchi and Singhbhum Timur reported the highest cases in the last 24 hours with the capital city that reported 1,592 cases reported 1,160 cases.
Six districts also recorded a triple-digit case while the remaining districts reported two-digit cases.
At present, the total active case in the country is now in 29,042 and the cumulative death toll from the beginning of the pandemic has reached 5,176.
