New Delhi: The Minister of External Affairs Jaisankar on Friday met with the US Congress delegation and exchanged views on developments in Afghanistan and the situation in the Indo-Pacific.
Delegation, led by Senator John Cornnyn, is visiting India.
“It’s nice to meet the US congress delegation led by Sen @Johncornyn today in New Delhi.
Productive exchange views on bilateral cooperation and regional problems, including Indo-Pacific and Afghanistan,” Jaisankar tweeted.
India has been worried about the possibility of the implications of the takeover of the Taliban Afghanistan for regional security and this problem is studied to find out in deliberation.
The visit by the American delegation came a month after our Deputy Minister of State Wendy Sherman held a vast talks with the opponent of India in Delhi over the Afghan crisis.
During his visit, Sherman said that India’s security issues would be “first and mainly” and in “front and center” for the US after developments in Afghanistan.
India and the US have dialogue and consultation regularly about problems related to Afghanistan.
Both parties have also expanded cooperation in the Indo Pacific in the background of planting Chinese muscle flexibility in the region.
