Alaska: The 6.9 earthquake struck the beach of the Alaska Peninsula Saturday morning, US geological surveys reported.
Despite the size of the earthquake, there was no tsunami warning issued.
The closest place to the earthquake center is Perryville, a house for a little more than 100 people 85 miles (135 kilometers) northwest.
Most of the land around the Alaska Bay section where the earthquake occurred right before 4am was home to wildlife laders.
Alaska is a nest of seismic activity.
The center of the Alaska earthquake, located at Alaska University, Fairbanks, detected an earthquake every 15 minutes, on average, according to its website.
The center also said that 75% of all US earthquakes with more than 5 occur in Alaska.
