JAMSHEDPUR: When the picnic season approaches, health officials in the East Singhbhum have decided to conduct covid tests on those who come to the district for a weekend picnic and gateway from neighboring Bengal and Odisha countries.
Officials said after scare Omicron, became necessary to be vigilant.
Officials have planned to do random tests at the picnic area.
“We don’t want to scare the tourists but as part of preventive measures, we need to test because a big meeting in a picnic place can cause mass deployment,” said the Head of the Additional Head of Sahir Pall.
Pall also said health officials will check whether security norms are followed in a picnic area.
As per the record, between the first week of October the first week and the second week of December, 290 people were tested positive in this district, which, 30% of them arrived from Bengal.
A total of 52,196 Covid cases have been reported between May 13, and 18 December this year, including 51,103 recovery and 1,062 deaths.
Earlier this month, a toddler, who suffered from a sickle cell anemia, died of Covid, even though he did not have a history of travel.
“Covid cases have declined but we are still in the middle of a pandemic and we cannot relax at this time,” said the doctor, Dr.
M M Singh.
