Kolkata: Eastern Railway (ER) is ready to operate the entire local train armade as a service continued from Sunday.
ER officials, who run the majority of suburban services in the state, put aside this phase award, unlike last year.
The service was suspended on May 6, when the second wave struck.
Suburban train services, suspended for the public since May 6, will be continued on Sundays with the state on Friday allowing 50% of passenger strength.
“The chair cannot be arranged on a local train because they are not provided.
We hope the state government to help us maintain a capacity of 50%,” said a senior train official to Ti.
ER EKALABYA spokesman Chakraborty said: “We are ready to operate all our emus fleets.
It may need one or two days to be full force, but most of the trains will return to the track at the end of next week.” In the pre-covid period, Er operates 922 trains (Electric Multicel Unit) in SeDah and 488 along the HOWRA DIVISION.
