EBB Rains in West Maharashtra

Pune: After expanding damage and flooding, the intensity of the rain has diminished in Maharashtra Barat, which leads to the water level on the surface of the main rivers that previously flowed above the danger in Kolhapur and Sangli, and the authorities now take steps to prevent disease which is transmitted through water.
Losses due to rain in Kolhapur are estimated at around Rs 243 Crore and the process of assessment of damage is still ongoing, officials said on Wednesday.
So far, 36,615 families (1,62,564 individuals) have shifted to safer places in Kolhapur, they said.
The Panchganga river water level has fallen and it flows at 43.9 feet in Rajaram Weir in Kolhapur by opposing a sign of a danger of 43 feet, according to district disaster cells.
In neighboring Sangli, the release of water from the Koyna Dam in Satara Regency has resulted in the city of Sangli and several villages flooded.
The dam was built on the Koyna River, the Krishna River River.
The water level of the Krishna river in Sangli has come under a danger on the Irvin Bridge.
On Wednesday morning, the river flowed at 44.10 feet against 45 feet danger sign, said district officials.
Because the surface of the water down after the flood, there is now a threat from the outbreak of the disease transmitted through water.
The Sangli Collector Abhijit Chaudhari has instructed the district administration to take the necessary steps, regulate medical camps and distribute drugs needed to avoid the spread of such diseases, official release words.
He also asked officials to assess the losses of important items in damaged households due to flood water.
The state government on Tuesday said heavy rain and floods since last week claimed 45 living in Satara and seven in Kolhapur.
