Lucknow: In the midst of busy activities considering the election of assembly in the state, the Indian General Election Commission (ECI) on Friday announced a biennial election for the Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh spread in 35 local authority selection.
Because the term current member ends on March 7, the election will be carried out in two phases.
A total of 29 constituencies will go to voting in the first phase on March 3 while the second round will be held in six constituencies on March 7.
Calculation will take place on March 12.
ECI notifications to hold elections simultaneously disrupt the political equations of many political parties.
The parties, especially BJP and SP, can see this opportunity to accommodate dissatisfied leaders who are rejected by tickets for a reason or another.
